ELIZABETH SCHOOL DISTRICT
NEW PUBLIC SCHOOL #27

Settembrino Architects staff was hired to design the New Elizabeth Public School #27. This new Pre-K through 8, 3-story, 118,000 square foot school is valued at $32 million. It was designed to accommodate 750 students. This building also boasts a below-grade parking garage to house 128 cars.

Located on a narrow 2.4 acre urban lot that abuts the Elizabeth River, this new school has separate play areas for Pre-K, grades 2-5 and grades 6-8. The cafetorium and gymnasium were located at street level adjacent to the Main Entrance. This maintains its presence and compatibility as a community school in addition to providing much needed security to the remainder of the school building.
